What date do the Bolzano Christmas Markets open?

On the map, the Bolzano Christmas Market (1) on Piazza Walther (Waltherplatz) and the Solidarity Market (2) on Piazza del Grano (Kornplatz) open on Thursday 26 November 2026. Market 1 starts that evening at 17:00 with its food and drink stands only; its craft stalls follow on Friday 27 November. It runs until Wednesday 6 January 2027, later than any other market on the map with 2026 dates so far.

That Thursday evening doubles as the inauguration of the Piazza Walther market. On Piazza del Grano, the City of Bolzano's charity market opens on the same day, with stalls run by social and voluntary associations, and it then trades every day until Wednesday 23 December.

The Christmas Market in Piazza Mazzini (3), in the Gries district west of the old town, joins them on weekends and public holidays from late November, Tuesday 8 December included, until Sunday 20 December 2026.

Market 3 sets up its stalls on Saturdays and Sundays and on Tuesday 8 December, the Immaculate Conception holiday, with its final weekend on 19 and 20 December.

The Piazza Mazzini market finishes on Sunday 20 December 2026, after its final weekend in Gries. On Wednesday 23 December the Solidarity Market closes on Piazza del Grano, the day before Christmas Eve.

The Bolzano Christmas Market carries on. It is open on Christmas Eve, Thursday 24 December, and is closed on Friday 25 December, Christmas Day. From Saturday 26 December it trades again each day, through New Year's Eve and New Year's Day, until Epiphany on Wednesday 6 January 2027, its closing day. Of the markets on the map with 2026 dates so far, it alone stays open after Christmas.

No closing date is known yet for the Campofranco market, whose 2026 season has not been announced.

First held in 1991, the Bolzano Christmas Market holds its inauguration on the Thursday before Advent, which fell on 27 November in 2025 and falls on 26 November in 2026.
