What each of the 4 markets on the Bolzano map offers

1. Bolzano Christmas Market
Stalls offer South Tyrolean woollens, from felt and boiled-wool jackets to hats and slippers, along with wooden utensils, decorative objects and ornaments in glass, wood and ceramics. Piazza Walther has a carousel and puppet shows, and the Artigiani Atesini cooperative demonstrates crafts daily. No entry ticket is needed: the stalls stand in the squares and streets of the old town. The season runs from Thursday 26 November to Wednesday 6 January, except 25 December.

2. Solidarity Market
The City of Bolzano runs this charity market, and its stalls on Piazza del Grano belong to social and voluntary associations. What they take goes to humanitarian and development projects and to associations working in the city. No entry ticket is needed. The stalls trade every day from Thursday 26 November until Wednesday 23 December.

3. Christmas Market in Piazza Mazzini
In the Gries district, this market is open only at weekends and on public holidays. Its market days in 2026 include Saturday and Sunday 28 and 29 November, 5 and 6, 12 and 13, and 19 and 20 December, plus Tuesday 8 December, a public holiday. No entry ticket is needed. Opening hours have not been announced yet.

4. Christmas Market at Palais Campofranco
In Palais Campofranco's courtyard, on the western side of Piazza Walther, this market has not announced its 2026 dates yet, and no opening hours have been given for the coming season either. Last winter, the courtyard market was open from late November 2025 until 6 January 2026.

Food and drink at the Christmas Markets in Bolzano
For food at the Bolzano Christmas Markets, the stands of the Piazza Walther market serve speck (South Tyrolean cured ham) with other cured meats, fritters, apple strudel, traditional biscuits and Christmas sweets, and Zelten, a Christmas bread with candied fruit. Mulled wine, apple juice and two local reds, Santa Maddalena and Lagrein, are poured at the stalls. The Wine Lounge adds grappa, local spirits and sparkling wine from South Tyrol. As a Green Event, the market uses reusable dishes and cutlery, sells water only in glass bottles and keeps canned drinks off the counters.
Bolzano Christmas Markets by month, from November to the New Year
Among the Christmas Markets in Bolzano in November, the Bolzano Christmas Market and the Solidarity Market start together on Thursday 26 November. That evening the big Christmas tree on Piazza Walther is lit and only the food and drink stands open, with the craft stalls joining on Friday 27 November. The Piazza Mazzini market keeps to weekends and public holidays from late November.
December brings St Nicholas to the huts on Piazza Walther and Krampus figures to the old town, both on Sunday 6 December. On the map, two markets close in December before Christmas: the Piazza Mazzini market on Sunday 20 December and the Solidarity Market on Wednesday 23 December.
The Piazza Walther market is closed on Christmas Day and carries on into January until Epiphany, Wednesday 6 January, the only one of the markets with 2026 dates to do so. The Campofranco market is still waiting for its 2026 dates.
