In English, the City sets out the squares of Strasbourg Capitale de Noël one by one, each market with its square. Also in English, the tourist office page on Strasbourg Capitale de Noël covers the 27 November start, the history of the market on place Broglie and the squares.
Strasbourg Christmas Markets, market by market

1. Christkindelsmärik
The Christkindelsmärik, a market held since 1570, now stands on place Broglie and is run by the City of Strasbourg. Its chalets specialise in decorations for the Christmas tree and for the Christmas Eve table, and its mulled wine is spiced with cinnamon, cloves and citrus. Visitors pose for photos under the Christkindelsmärik arch. No entry ticket is needed. Open from Friday 27 November to Thursday 24 December 2026.

2. Place de la Cathédrale Christmas Market
The City of Strasbourg runs this traditional Christmas Market, whose chalets stretch from the cathedral square towards place du Château. Inside Strasbourg Cathedral, 14 tapestries of the life of the Virgin Mary hang only between Advent and Epiphany. No entry ticket is needed. The chalets trade daily between Friday 27 November and Thursday 24 December 2026.

3. Place du Château Christmas Market
Another City of Strasbourg market, place du Château sets its chalets among buildings of pink Vosges sandstone. The electric Christmas tourist train sets off from this square and gives its commentary in 16 languages; it is a paid attraction, separate from the stalls. No entry ticket is needed. Season: Friday 27 November to Thursday 24 December 2026.

4. Grand Sapin Market
Around the Great Christmas Tree in the middle of place Kléber, the City's Grand Sapin Market hosts the Village du Partage, where charitable and social organisations take donations and sell handmade crafts for good causes. The Soupe de l'Étoile, cooked by Alsatian chefs, is on sale there, and a seating area serves an Alsatian speciality. No entry ticket is needed. Dates: Friday 27 November until Thursday 24 December 2026.

5. Place Benjamin-Zix Christmas Market
Run by the City of Strasbourg, the chalets on place Benjamin-Zix sell decorations for the home and the festive table, along with candles and herbal teas. The lock walkway right next to the square is a viewpoint. No entry ticket is needed. It opens on Friday 27 November and closes for the season on Thursday 24 December 2026.

6. Place Saint-Thomas Christmas Market
The City's market on place Saint-Thomas carries the same range as its partner square in the Petite France: home and table decorations, candles and herbal teas. It adds stalls of treats and hot drinks. No entry ticket is needed. Chalets stand here every day from Friday 27 November through Thursday 24 December 2026.

7. Quai des Délices on Terrasse Rohan
The Tribu des Gourmets pours regional wines and Alsace mulled white wine on Terrasse Rohan, from an open chalet hung with barrels. The bakers of the Bas-Rhin sell bredle (Alsatian Christmas biscuits) at the Quai des Délices, from a seasonal bakery. The terrace faces the Promenade of Stars along the Ill. No entry ticket is needed. Stalls run from Friday 27 November to Thursday 24 December 2026.

10. Market of the Small Producers of Alsace
Everything at this City market is made in Alsace by committed artisans, from chocolate, condiments and handmade jams to bredle, hot apple juice and biodynamic Alsace wines. On the square the Advent Village runs family storytelling, workshops, concerts and games, and the Covered Bridges and the Vauban Dam are nearby. No entry ticket is needed. Trading days: Friday 27 November to Thursday 24 December 2026, with no day off.

11. Marché OFF
Organised by a social and solidarity economy collective, the Marché OFF trades from containers and geodesic domes: vintage furniture, upcycled and second-hand clothing, local crafts, books, second-hand toys and organic food. It runs upcycling workshops and a quiet Safe Zone with sensory items; many stalls take the Stück, the local currency. No entry ticket is needed. Its containers open on Friday 27 November 2026 and close on Thursday 24 December.

What to eat and drink at the Strasbourg Christmas Markets
Across the 11 squares with 2026 dates, food at the Strasbourg Christmas Markets centres on Alsatian cooking, with spiced mulled wine, bredle, gingerbread and local produce. Gourmet chalets add sauerkraut, tarts and flambéed baguettes, spaetzle and pretzels, and exhibitors offer dishes for different diets, vegetarian and vegan included. Mulled wine is flavoured with citrus and spices, children get hot fruit juice, and the beer on draught must be craft beer brewed in the Grand Est region. Visitors are welcome to bring their own reusable cups and food containers to the stalls.
Christmas Markets in Strasbourg in November and December
Among the Christmas Markets in Strasbourg in November, the 11 squares on the map with 2026 dates open their chalets on Friday 27 November 2026; on opening day the stalls start later than on the days that follow.
For the Christmas Markets in Strasbourg in December, those squares on the map keep trading every day up to Thursday 24 December, when the chalets shut early so that the traders can celebrate Christmas Eve. Nothing on the map carries on after that day.
In 2026 the Great Christmas Tree stands in the middle of place Kléber, with the Village du Partage at its foot, and the Advent Village sets up its family activities on square Louise-Weiss. The antique dealers and Frémaa have yet to fix when their two Aubette fairs return in 2026.
