Budapest Christmas Market hours vary by market. Of those with announced dates, both open at 11:00 on ordinary days and close at 21:00 or 22:00, an hour later on Fridays and Saturdays. For three more on the map, the 2026 edition is not yet dated.

- Vörösmarty Classic Xmas keeps the square open from 29 to 31 December after the craft stalls leave, with 11:00 to 21:00 on 29 and 30 December.
- Advent Bazilika opening hours sets out the season from 13 November 2026 to 1 January 2027, the weekly times and the times on 24, 25, 26 and 31 December and 1 January.

In Hungary, 25 and 26 December and 1 January are public holidays. Thursday 24 December 2026 is a rest day too, set by the 2026 working-day decree (in Hungarian), which turns Saturday 12 December into a working day in exchange. Advent Bazilika Christmas Market reopens at 11:00 on New Year's Day, a few hours after its New Year's Eve close.
Late openings and early closures at the Budapest Christmas Markets
Friday and Saturday evenings run an hour later. Advent Bazilika Christmas Market stays open until 23:00 on those two nights and until 22:00 from Sunday to Thursday, while Vörösmarty Classic Xmas closes at 22:00 on Fridays and Saturdays and at 21:00 on the other days. On ordinary days both start trading at 11:00.
Christmas brings earlier closing: 15:00 at Advent Bazilika and 14:00 at Vörösmarty Classic Xmas on Christmas Eve, then 20:00 and 18:00 on 25 and 26 December, and Advent Bazilika finishes at 18:00 on New Year's Day. New Year's Eve goes the other way, with both squares open until 03:00 on 1 January.
Dusk has its own fixed point: from 17:30 each afternoon, light painting is projected onto the front of St Stephen's Basilica, sometimes with music beforehand.
