Copenhagen Christmas Market opening times

Hours for the 7 markets on the map, numbered as on the map, between 6 November and 3 January:

• Christmas in Tivoli sits inside Tivoli Gardens, which needs an entry ticket; its rides take a separate Ride Pass.
• Leaving Tivoli and coming back on the same day works with a re-entry stamp from the attendant at the exit by Tivoli Food Hall, except during major events.
• Markets 2 to 7 need no entry ticket.

Christmas in Tivoli on its special days from 23 December to its closing day:

Markets 2 to 7 on the map have all ended their season by 21 December, so over Christmas and New Year Tivoli trades alone, and on 31 December it stays open until midnight. The Copenhagen Christmas Market dates give the opening and closing day of each market.

Neither 24 nor 31 December is a public holiday in Denmark, yet as a rule Danish shops stay shut all day on Christmas Eve and shut at 15:00 on New Year's Eve.

Fridays and Saturdays bring the later evenings. Tivoli is open until 23:00 on those two nights, the Nytorv & Gammeltorv market until 22:00 and the Højbro Plads market until 21:00, in each case an hour after its Thursday closing.

Sundays start later at two markets in the old centre: the Nytorv & Gammeltorv and Højbro Plads markets are open from 12:00 to 19:00 on Sundays. The Frederiksberg market keeps one timetable for its whole run, from 11:00 to 17:00 every day.

The Swedish Church market begins on a Friday afternoon and is open from 15:00 to 19:00 on 20 November, then from 10:00 to 18:00 on the Saturday and from 10:00 to 17:00 on the Sunday.

Rides at Tivoli, which need a Ride Pass, can be halted at short notice, for instance because of the weather.
