Are the Frankfurt Christmas Markets open at Christmas and New Year?
No. Tuesday 22 December, with hours of 10:00 to 21:00, is the final day of the Frankfurt Christmas Market, and the Artists' Christmas Market closes its Römer halls exhibition on Monday 21 December. From 23 December no market on the map with 2026 dates so far is open: Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, 26 December, New Year's Eve and New Year's Day pass without market days. The Sachsenhausen market, by the Goethe Tower, is waiting for its 2026 dates.
In Hesse, 25 and 26 December and 1 January are public holidays.

Sunday and last-day hours at the Frankfurt Christmas Markets
Sundays at the Frankfurt Christmas Market, 29 November, 6 December, 13 December and 20 December, run from 11:00 to 21:00. Its opening day, Monday 23 November, and its final day, Tuesday 22 December, keep the weekday times of 10:00 to 21:00. On the opening evening the ceremony on the Römerberg stage starts at 17:05, and the tower horns of St Nicholas Church play at 18:00, as they do on every Wednesday and Saturday evening. St Nicholas comes to the stage on Sunday 6 December at 17:10.
In St Paul's Church the Artists' Christmas Market closes at 18:00 on its final Sunday, 20 December; in the Römer halls the same 18:00 close falls on Monday 21 December. On Sunday 29 November the Swedish market is open from 12:00 to 16:00 and the Finnish market from 11:00 to 16:00.
