Frankfurt Christmas Markets, market by market

1. Frankfurt Christmas Market
Stalls offer handicrafts, gifts, decorations and specialities from many countries, many at the Hauptwache opposite the Zeil. Römerberg has the Christmas tree, Nikolaus, a spruce 26 metres tall brought from Austria's Pinzgau region; the Mainkai has rides for children, and the Roßmarkt a Ferris wheel. No entry ticket is needed: the stalls stand in the squares of the old town and the city centre. Open daily from Monday 23 November to Tuesday 22 December.

2. Sachsenhausen Christmas Market
Christmas specialities and handcrafted goods are on offer at this market, which is set among trees near the Goethe Tower in Sachsenhausen. Its 2026 dates and opening hours have not been announced yet.

3. Frankfurt Artists' Christmas Market
BBK Frankfurt, a professional body for the city's visual artists, runs this art market indoors. Frankfurt artists show and sell painting, prints and etchings, photography, sculpture, objects, jewellery and crafts. The exhibition opens in St Paul's Church on Tuesday 24 November and stays there until Sunday 20 December; the Römer halls follow from Friday 4 to Monday 21 December.

4. Swedish Christmas Market
The Swedish Church in Preungesheim holds this two-day market, with Swedish specialities, pastries and savoury snacks, gift ideas, Christmas items and products with a Nordic theme, plus a café serving food and coffee. It takes place on Saturday 28 and Sunday 29 November, the weekend that opens Advent.

5. Finnish Christmas Market
Frankfurt's Finnish congregation holds this Christmas bazaar at the Dornbusch Church. On sale are Finnish specialities, pastries and hot drinks, along with handmade crafts, small gift ideas and products with a Scandinavian flair. The market keeps to two days, Saturday 28 and Sunday 29 November, so it falls on the same weekend as the Swedish and Höchst markets.

6. Höchst Christmas Market
The Höchst club association runs this market in the west of the city, on Höchster Schlossplatz and Justinuskirchplatz, and a children's Christmas Market is held alongside it. Both are held on Saturday 28 and Sunday 29 November, and their opening hours have not been announced yet.

What to eat and drink at the Frankfurt Christmas Markets
For food at the Frankfurt Christmas Markets, the Römerberg market offers Frankfurt sweets: Bethmännchen, small marzipan balls with almonds that go back to the Bethmann banking family, and Brenten, a sweet local delicacy, sold alongside roasted almonds and mugs of hot apple wine, a Frankfurt habit on cold winter days. On the Roßmarkt, mulled wine is poured inside the large Christmas pyramid.
In 2025 the same market also served chestnuts, waffles and potato fritters, and its choice of vegetarian and vegan dishes was growing, for example in the Pink Christmas area. Away from the centre, the Swedish Church's café serves food and coffee next to stalls of Swedish baking, and the Finnish bazaar at the Dornbusch Church offers Finnish dishes, cakes and warm drinks.
Christmas Markets in Frankfurt in November and December
For the Christmas Markets in Frankfurt in November, the earliest date among the markets with 2026 dates is Monday 23 November: the Frankfurt Christmas Market opens that day, straight after Totensonntag, and holds an opening ceremony on the Römerberg stage. The Artists' Christmas Market follows on Tuesday 24 November inside St Paul's Church, and Advent's first weekend, Saturday 28 and Sunday 29 November, brings the Swedish, Finnish and Höchst markets.
Among Christmas Markets in Frankfurt in December, the Römer halls add a second venue for the artists on Friday 4 December. St Nicholas visits the Römerberg stage on Sunday 6 December, and historical steam trains run on the harbour railway from the Eiserner Steg on 12 and 13 December. The Artists' market ends on Monday 21 December and the Frankfurt Christmas Market on Tuesday 22 December. No market with confirmed dates opens after that, and the Sachsenhausen market has no 2026 dates so far.
