Are the Helsinki Christmas Markets open on 24, 25 and 31 December?
No, not at the Helsinki Christmas Market or at Vanhan Joulutori: both close on Tuesday 22 December, and the four two-day markets have finished before then. Manta's, alone of the markets with 2026 dates, carries on to Wednesday 6 January, but its times from 24 to 26 December and on 31 December and 1 January have not been announced. The Suomenlinna market has no 2026 dates yet. The Helsinki Christmas Market calendar lists when each market opens and closes.
Five days of the season are public holidays in Finland: Independence Day on Sunday 6 December, Christmas Day and St Stephen's Day on 25 and 26 December, New Year's Day on Friday 1 January and Epiphany on Wednesday 6 January.
Weekday, weekend and two-day market hours in Helsinki
The Helsinki Christmas Market and Vanhan Joulutori share a weekly pattern: they are open from 11:00 to 19:00 from Monday to Thursday and on Sundays, and until 20:00 on Fridays and Saturdays.
Four markets last a single weekend each. The Teurastamo market and the City Museum's market are open from 11:00 to 18:00 on both days; FunDesign is open from 11:00 to 18:00 on the Saturday and from 11:00 to 17:00 on the Sunday; the Annala market is open from 11:00 to 15:00 on both days.
Independence Day, Sunday 6 December, falls inside the season of the Senate Square market and of Manta's; no separate hours have been announced for either. Lucia Day falls on Sunday 13 December: the crowning takes place in Helsinki Cathedral at 17:00, and at about 18:00 the Lucia parade leaves Senate Square.
