For Senate Square, the Helsinki Christmas Market's own visitor information covers its 2026 dates, its organiser, the carousel and the food court. The City of Helsinki's guide to Christmas in Helsinki picks the Senate Square market, Vanhan Joulutori, the Teurastamo market and Manta's for the season.
The Helsinki Christmas Markets on the map, one by one

1. Helsinki Christmas Market
Craftspeople sell their own gifts here, and each gift stall carries goods made, or at least designed, in Finland, down to cutlery of reindeer antler. An old-time horse carousel turns in the middle of the market, and a tall Christmas tree stands in front of Helsinki Cathedral. No entry ticket is needed: the stalls stand on Senate Square. Tuomaan Markkinat, its Finnish name, is on between Friday 27 November and Tuesday 22 December.

2. Manta's Christmas Market
Manta's, first held in 2025, rings a covered ice rink with a small, hand-picked set of stalls, with skates to rent. Warm food and drinks and Christmas delicacies come from a pavilion at the edge of the ice, and the programme changes through the season, from ribbon skating to small gigs. No entry ticket is needed. Stalls open on Friday 4 December and stay until Wednesday 6 January; holiday hours have not been announced.

3. Vanhan Joulutori Christmas Market
Ceramics, jewellery, toys and books share two floors of the Old Student House with wool socks, felt slippers and pouches, mostly handmade and sold by their makers, next to Finnish design. The house café pours speciality coffees and glögi (Finnish mulled wine) and serves pastries and lunch. The market has run for over 30 years. No entry ticket is needed. Its doors are open from Tuesday 15 to Tuesday 22 December.

4. Teurastamo Christmas Market
The market takes over the whole of Teurastamo, the former abattoir, where entrepreneurs and artisans sell art, homeware, jewellery, clothes and accessories, crafts and design. There is food to eat on the spot and to take home for the Christmas table, and Teurastamo's own restaurants join in. Teurastamo has held its Christmas Market since 2014. No entry ticket is needed. It is on Saturday 19 and Sunday 20 December, the weekend before Christmas.

5. City Museum's Holiday Market
Craftspeople, small producers and museums of the capital region bring crafts, delicacies and other Christmas products to the Helsinki City Museum, and the museum shop is open as well. Santa Claus meets children on both days. No entry ticket is needed. The market is held over one weekend, Saturday 28 and Sunday 29 November, inside the museum.

6. FunDesign Christmas Market
FunDesign brings art and design by local creatives to the Merikaapelihalli hall of the Cable Factory, with DIY workshops to join, snacks and a café. An entry ticket is needed; one ticket covers both days, and children under 12 do not need one. The market lasts two days, Saturday 21 and Sunday 22 November.

7. Traditional Christmas Market at Annala
The Finnish Useful Plants Society fills the Annala villa with harvest products, crafts, Christmas baking and decorations. Outdoors, ponies entertain young children, and a Christmas café serves rice porridge and other Christmas treats. No entry ticket is needed. It takes place on 28 and 29 November, a Saturday and a Sunday, the same weekend as the City Museum's market.

8. Suomenlinna Craft and Art Christmas Market
This market belongs to the artisans and artists of Suomenlinna, who bring together their own crafts and art in the Suomenlinna Museum, out on the sea fortress. Its dates for 2026 have not been announced yet, so no day can be named for it this season.

Helsinki Christmas Market food, market by market
On Senate Square, food at the Helsinki Christmas Markets comes from a licensed food court in the middle of the market, with a stress on vegetarian dishes and local producers, and biodegradable tableware. Glögi is poured there next to fresh local fish and meat, and in 2025 the menu took in spiced Christmas rice porridges, khachapuri, lörtsy (a fried Finnish pastry), fish, game and reindeer dishes. At Manta's, warm food and drinks come from a pavilion beside the covered rink. The Old Student House café at Vanhan Joulutori keeps speciality coffees, pastries and lunch going for the whole market, and the Annala market runs its own Christmas café, where rice porridge is served.
