The Christmas Markets in Prague start on 20 November 2026

Seven of the 10 Christmas Markets on the map have 2026 dates, and among them the Náměstí Míru Christmas Market opens first, on Friday 20 November 2026. The Old Town Square Christmas Market and the Wenceslas Square Christmas Market open on Saturday 28 November 2026, the day before the first Sunday of Advent, when the Old Town Square tree is lit. The season runs to Wednesday 6 January 2027.

The markets open in three steps. After Náměstí Míru, in front of St Ludmila's Church in Prague 2 (Vinohrady), the Náměstí Republiky Christmas Market follows on Wednesday 25 November and the Tylovo náměstí Christmas Market on Thursday 26 November. Both are run by the same organiser as Náměstí Míru, LCA (České vánoční trhy). On Saturday 28 November four markets open together: the two Taiko markets on Old Town Square (Staroměstské náměstí) and Wenceslas Square, the Anděl Christmas Market in Smíchov and the Advent Market at Jiřího z Poděbrad Square, which locals call Jiřák.

For the Kampa Christmas Market, Václavské Vánoce and Advent at Holešovice Market, the 2026 dates have not been announced yet. What each of the Prague Christmas Markets sells, and who runs it, is set out market by market.

Which Prague Christmas Markets stay open after Christmas?

Among the markets with 2026 dates, the closing dates come in four waves. The Advent Market at Jiřího z Poděbrad Square closes on Wednesday 23 December 2026. The three LCA markets, on Náměstí Míru, Náměstí Republiky and Tylovo náměstí, end on Thursday 24 December, Christmas Eve.

Three of them stay open after Christmas. The Anděl Christmas Market runs until Thursday 31 December, and the Old Town Square Christmas Market and the Wenceslas Square Christmas Market continue into the new year, until Wednesday 6 January 2027. The 2026 holiday hours have not been announced yet; the daily times are in the opening times of the Prague Christmas Markets.

Past opening dates of the Prague Christmas Markets

The Old Town Square and Wenceslas Square markets opened on the Saturday before the first Sunday of Advent in 2024 and 2025, as in 2026. In 2025 they opened on Saturday 29 November 2025 at 10:00 and ran until 6 January 2026, the 20th season organised by Taiko. In 2024 they opened on Saturday 30 November 2024 and stayed open daily until 6 January 2025.

The Náměstí Míru market traditionally runs from 20 November to 24 December. Christmas Markets have been held on náměstí Republiky since 2003, and the farmers' markets on Jiřího z Poděbrad Square have run since 2010, organised by the Prague 3 district since 2020.

The 2025 Kampa Christmas Market ran from 3 December 2025 to 4 January 2026, and Václavské Vánoce from 28 November 2025 to 7 January 2026. Holešovice Market has announced Advent markets for November and December 2026, with a winter cinema (Svařák & film) and Christmas tree sales; details are to follow.
