When do the Christmas Markets in York start?

Start dates of the York Christmas Markets in 2026
The York Christmas Market is the first to open, on Thursday 12 November 2026, and it is also the last to close, on Monday 21 December 2026. The Acomb Christmas Artisan Market and the Living North Yorkshire Christmas Fair both take place in November, while the Yorkshire Yuletide Village runs from Tuesday 1 to Sunday 20 December 2026.
November sees three openings on the map. The Parliament Street market starts trading on Thursday 12 November. The Acomb market begins on Front Street the following day, Friday 13 November, and stays until Sunday 15 November. The Living North fair at York Racecourse opens on Thursday 19 November and closes on Sunday 22 November.
December adds the Yuletide Village, whose first day in the Guildhall is Tuesday 1 December. That date is a Tuesday, one of the weekly rest days of the Parliament Street market. From then on the Yuletide Village trades every day until Sunday 20 December, and both city-centre markets run side by side on every other day of that span.

When the York Christmas Markets close in December
Two of the markets on the map finish in November. The Acomb market packs up on Sunday 15 November after its three days on Front Street, and the Living North fair ends its four days at the racecourse on Sunday 22 November.
The Yuletide Village holds its last day in the Guildhall on Sunday 20 December. Its run is made up of three weekly periods: 1 to 6 December, 7 to 13 December and 14 to 20 December. The York Christmas Market stays one day longer and closes for the season on Monday 21 December.
Among the markets on the map, none of those with announced dates is open after 21 December. None of them trades on 24, 25, 26 or 31 December or on 1 January 2027, and their season does not continue into the new year.
