The York Christmas Markets on the map, one by one

1. York Christmas Market
York Christmas Market, also known as St Nicholas Fair, sets Alpine-style chalets along Parliament Street and the adjoining St Sampson's Square, selling gifts, local crafts and artisan products next to seasonal food and drink. Over 80% of its traders come from Yorkshire. The stalls stand in the pedestrian streets, and no entry ticket is needed. Trading starts on Thursday 12 November and ends on Monday 21 December, with each Tuesday kept as a weekly rest day.

2. Yorkshire Yuletide Village
The Yorkshire Yuletide Village brings designer makers and food producers from across Yorkshire into the Guildhall, with ceramics, glassware, jewellery, textiles, metalwork, wood, soaps, jams, art and photography for sale. Festive displays and lights dress the hall for the occasion. No entry ticket is needed. Its stalls welcome visitors each day from Tuesday 1 to Sunday 20 December, Tuesdays included.

3. Living North Yorkshire Christmas Fair
The Living North Yorkshire Christmas Fair gathers more than 200 stands indoors at York Racecourse: fashion, homewares and beauty products sit beside gifts and Christmas decorations from designer-makers, with local food producers alongside. Bars and restaurants are part of the site, and chef demonstrations are planned, their 2026 line-up still to come. An entry ticket is needed. The Living North fair lasts four days, Thursday 19 to Sunday 22 November.

4. Acomb Christmas Artisan Market
The Acomb Christmas Artisan Market belongs to the Little Bird Made series of artisan market days and brings its Christmas edition to Front Street in Acomb, west of the city centre. It is held over three days: Friday 13, Saturday 14 and Sunday 15 November.

York Christmas Market food, market by market
At York Christmas Market, mulled wine is poured at the chalets in the city centre, and chalets selling seasonal food, drink and treats stand among the craft and gift stalls on both Parliament Street and St Sampson's Square.
The Yorkshire Yuletide Village gives Yorkshire food producers room inside the Guildhall during December, where jams are sold among the ceramics, textiles and other work of the designer makers.
At the Living North Yorkshire Christmas Fair, the food producers bring artisan treats that range from sweets to local meats, fish and cheeses, all under one roof at the racecourse in November. Between the stands, the racecourse site also has bars and restaurants for a sit-down break during the four days of the fair.
Which York Christmas Markets are open in November, and which in December?
For Christmas Markets in York in November, the map has three. York Christmas Market opens on Thursday 12 November and then trades from Wednesday to Monday each week. The Acomb market follows from Friday 13 to Sunday 15 November, and the Living North fair runs at the racecourse from Thursday 19 to Sunday 22 November.
On the map, two Christmas Markets in York in December are open. The Parliament Street market carries on through the month, still closed on Tuesdays, and the Yuletide Village opens in the Guildhall on Tuesday 1 December. The Yuletide Village closes on Sunday 20 December, and York Christmas Market follows a day later, on Monday 21 December.
No market on the map stays open over Christmas or into the New Year, so the season on these four sites ends before Christmas Eve.
